Random Conversations

I just had an extremely odd conversation that tested my Chinese ability to the max. It actually took a long time before I fully grasped what was being said to me.

As you know, I have a dog and have become, for the first time in my life, a dog person. At night I take little Max for walks, clean up her poop, and hang out on the street with the other dog lovers. Tonight I sat down at a local 羊肉串place and ate shish kebobs, drank baijiu and had a nice long chat with the local dog fancier.

My dog doesn’t have an ID card (it’s expensive! about $125 for the first year. The local dog fancier told me that about 80% of the dogs in the hutong are illegal and unliscenced. Then he told me what he (from personal experience) knows about the consequences of cheaping out on the doggie ID. If I’m caught (and I have a friend who’s a cop here … it isn’t so much about getting caught as it is getting messed with) I will be stuck with a big fine ($600) ehich can be reduced to $25 if I beat my dog to death in front of the coppers. Crazy, huh?

Unexpected down time has almost been eliminated. In 1994, the Rechargeable Battery Recycling Corporation (RBRC) was founded to promote recycling of rechargeable batteries in North America. Third, you don't have to stop at car batteries. They work very well in providing sufficient power to the car, with an output of four to five miles per kilowatt hour.

Computer files are becoming the accepted format for storing information, instead of printing everything and filing it. Often they stressed the importance of making one's audience think one was right, rather than actually being right. 40x - 1000x standard. Image In Focus ver 3.
