This is really funny Tony. I like your writing style too, as always.

I wonder if I should make one of these about Korea.

It would be really long.

How's your Chinese?

Your descriptions are interesting, I pretty much enjoyed reading them.

I had a holiday in China last October, seen people spitting on the floor, but not in the restaurants. Neither do I see orderly queues at the bus-stops. China is a hugh place, I may see them if I plan for another holiday to China again.

Hey Tony--

I enjoy the insight that you're sharing on your blog about Beijing. I'm heading over to China in mid-November and Beijing will be on the tour. Looking forward to it.

Hi Hang

I assume your comment was intended to be a bit sarcastic, but I'll answer anyway. Yes, I am talking about China. This post was intended to be a bit tongue in cheek, so you don't have to take it too seriously. Still, I stand by what I wrote. By the way, I've been living in China for years and love China, Chinese people, and a lot of stuff about this place. I also hate a few things. If you think I'm biased, try asking me about my own country (America) and see how I respond. I also love a lot of things about America, including American people. I also hate a lot of things about America, including our current president, George Bush. I hate George Bush and I'll sign my name and social security number on a petition to kick him out of office and send him to jail. Would you sign a similar petition about anyone in the Chinese governement? If you would, then you don't have to read the rest of my comment.

And Hang, media everywhere has biases, but the media in China is clearly more biased than the media in any western country I can think of. There are hundreds of articles and reports about China every week in America and the west, and I think if you look at all of them as a whole you'll see that the reporting is pretty objective (of course, there are a lot of very opinionated editorials, but that's what free speech is all about. Take a look at editorials in the west about any other issue and you'll see what I mean - many sides of an issue get discussed openly)

In the West, we have a lot of people who obsess over conspiracy theories, but the truth is usually much less interesting. There usually isn't any conspiracy to cover up fake moon landings, or discredit the Olympics or Chinese government. The truth is your government and mine both do a lot of good things and a lot of shitty things, and reporters in some countries are allowed to report on these things freely, so they do.

I like your blog, Hang, and I like your writing style. I've been toying with the idea of trying to write a blog in Chinese, and you've inspired me. Keep blogging and keep sharing your ideas with the world.

BTW - I was in Beijing for three and a half years, but I recently moved down south.
